Why I Volunteer

“I have worked with other environmental groups in Alabama and Virginia, but never one where the employees and members are so friendly, dedicated, and passionate about their mission. The inspiration is clear: this area is beautiful and environmentally valuable.”

I have been volunteering with Mobile Baykeeper for around a year and a half. I find that I am happier the more time that I manage to give this fantastic organization. I have worked with other environmental groups in Alabama and Virginia, but never one where the employees and members are so friendly, dedicated, and passionate about their mission.

The inspiration is clear: this area is beautiful and environmentally valuable. Mobile, the bay, and the delta are all stunning treasures worth protecting. Having been raised in Michigan, I may never fully adjust to the climate and the creatures here. I admit that I generally prefer to work inside the Baykeepers’ office rather than venture deep into our wetlands, but I know that contributions and efforts of all kinds are needed.

Mobile Baykeeper makes all of their volunteers feel very appreciated, and giving my time is just one small way to show my own gratitude for these hardworking people and the natural area they aim to preserve.

Mobile Baykeeper has many opportunities to volunteer and make a difference of your own. Check out the next cleanup, roundup, or event by following us on social media.
