Refunds, Cancellations, Change Fees, and Weather Policy
The following information is our written policy regarding refunds, reassignment of cancellations, transfers and inclement weather. Due to this being a written statement of our policy, we will not entertain requests for exceptions.
Requests for refunds must be made in writing BEFORE May 1, 2017. Requests can be made by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail to Mobile Baykeeper 450-C Government Street, Mobile, AL 36602.
Entry fees and USAT fees will be refunded. On-line processing fees will not be refunded. Refunds will be made by check and mailed out approximately 3 weeks after your request is received.
Proceeds from the race benefit three local non-profit organizations: Mobile Baykeeper, myTeam Triumph: Southern Alabama, and Delta Bike Project.
Once the field limit is reached and/or registration is closed, we will not reassign cancellations. We will not maintain a waiting list to provide replacement participants in the event a registered athlete cannot participate.
No transfers of entries will be permitted. USA Triathlon rules state the following:
- Any person who participates in any portion of a sanctioned event without first properly registering and paying any required registration fee shall be suspended or barred from membership in USA Triathlon and barred from participation in any sanctioned event for a period of up to one year.
- Any person who in any way assists another athlete to violate Section 3.5a by providing or selling a race number to that athlete shall be suspended or barred from membership in USA Triathlon and barred from participation in any sanctioned event for a period of up to one year.
With the new registration system at Active.com, you can make changes to your registration at no cost until April 15, 2017. Between April 16 and May 15, any changes to registration will require a $10 change fee. The only change you cannot make is to your race category. Please email email@example.com and we’ll fix it for the $10 change fee.
The closer we are to the race, the less time we have to fix things, so please make sure everything is accurate on the website participants list. If the mistake is ours, of course we'll cover it. No changes will be allowed after May 15, 2017.
The Race Director and Race Officials reserve the right to cancel and/or modify segments of the event as deemed necessary for the safety of our racers and your children. There is no rain date for this event. In the event that the race is completely cancelled, 2017 Publix Jubilee Kids Triathlon entrants will be guaranteed an entry into the 2018 race with a $10 discount until April 30, 2018. Spots will not be guaranteed nor will discounts be applied to 2017 entrants after that time.
Duathlon Plan: In the event that conditions are unsafe for swimming, the race will change to a duathlon format (run-bike-run). Racers ages 11-15 (Mullets & Flounders) will complete a 1/2-mile run on the Fairhope Pier before resuming the rest of the race as originally planned with a 3-mile bike and 1.75 mile run. Racers ages 7-10 (Crabs & Shrimps) will complete a 1/3-mile run on the Fairhope Pier before resuming the rest of the race as originally planned with a 1-mile bike and 0.75 mile run. Lightning: If there is lightning, we will hold the race for 30 minutes to see if the weather passes. If the roads are wet, we will not allow children to ride bikes on slick streets. If possible, we will hold the race to see if the weather clears and allows the streets to dry. Our focus will be on the safety of the racers.
Cancellation: In the case of a complete cancellation of the race, 2017 applicants who wish to make use of the discount must make their request by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or regular mail to Mobile Baykeeper at 450-C Government St. Mobile, AL 36602.
