About the race: The Publix Grandman Triathlon begins with the racers jumping off the Fairhope pier into Mobile Bay and swimming 1/3-mile to the shore. After the swim, racers immediately bike 18 miles throughout the city of Fairhope up a grueling hill and through miles of the scenic countryside before finishing the race with a 5K run alongside Mobile Bay.
“What’s so unique about this triathlon is that racers get to jump off of the pier and swim in open water,” said Casi Callaway, Mobile Baykeeper Executive Director and Grandman Race Director. “Safeguarding Mobile Bay for swimmers of all ages is what we do everyday at Mobile Baykeeper, so this race is very important to us.”
The Publix Grandman Triathlon is made possible by support from sponsors. If your business or organization is interested in becoming a sponsor, please click the link below. You can email completed forms to Justine Herlihy at email@example.com. If you having any questions when reviewing your sponsorship opportunities, feel free to call our office at 251-433-4229!
With over 700 racers, the Grandman requires between 100-150 volunteers each year. Volunteers will be needed on June 2 and June 3 for setting up the race course, directing racer traffic, body marking, helping with the post-race party, cleaning up after the event, and many other jobs. We will also need volunteers in the two weeks before the race to help prepare around the office. For more information, please contact Nickelle Stoll at firstname.lastname@example.org.
