We have received a federal grant through the NOAA Marine Debris Removal Program to help the City of Mobile "Move Toward a Litter Free Mardi Gras." Through this program, we will partner with various local organizations to remove litter and medium-sized marine debris from One Mile Creek, a tributary of the Three-Mile Creek Watershed which receives a significant amount of litter from Mardi Gras.
Our goal is to raise public awareness and get community members involved to celebrate more responsibly during Mardi Gras. To kick off this program, we will be hosting a litter cleanup of One Mile Creek both on land and water. Volunteers with canoes or kayaks are needed to remove litter from the creek. Please indicate whether you feel comfortable in a canoe or kayak as there is a separate waiver that will need to be completed. If you have your own gloves, please bring them.
